Volunteers Needed!

Happy April, Vermont!

It is that time again: time for elections to our Vermont Health Information Board of Directors! Do you feel like you want to help get the word out about our profession? Have you been meaning to reach out to volunteer, but haven’t had the time? Now is the time!

Open positions this year are:

President-Elect – serves for two years as an active Board member and under the guidance of the current President to support all activities as defined in the Bylaws as well as to assist with planning for member education through meetings and events. May serve as delegate to the House of Delegates or other meetings as agreed upon by the Board in the absence of the President or as deemed appropriate by the Board. Supports Scholarship annually. Manages other business as needed. Collaborates with the members of the Board and AHIMA membership as needed.

Secretary – serves for two years as an active Board member. Collaborates with the Board to plan meetings and events. Serves as the minute taker for all Board meetings and Member meetings, roundtables, etc. Works with the Board to create an agenda and educational program. Serves as the communication conduit between the Board and members as needed. Maintains the membership distribution list for e-mail communications. May also participate as delegate for meetings.

Treasurer – serves for two years as an active Board member. Ensures the security and appropriate filing of all required documents and accounts for the VTHIMA Treasury. Provides a Treasurer’s report at all Business Meetings. Manages the incoming membership’s dues for deposits and pays invoices due from the account. May also participate as delegate for meetings. Collaborates with the members of the Board and AHIMA membership as needed.

VTHIMA Advocate – serves for two years as an active Board member. This is a new role that the Board is suggesting be added to engage at the state level in regard to regulatory updates and changes impacting Health Information Management.

As the current President-Elect and former treasurer, one of the most satisfying things I have taken away from volunteering with AHIMA is the networking. I have made contacts all over the United States, which has been a great resource for my day job as well.

Volunteer to run for a position and help lead VTHIMA into the future. Nominations will be open until May 30th, with elections held on June 15, 2020.
